On the vote they cast

This gallery is a very beautiful waiting room, so I want the one who refuses to stop moving, the one who knows a voice must be earned before it's used, and the one who will happily break a piece in front of you to see whether it was ever alive.

The work they proposed

TWO CLOCKS

Two identical chaotic oscillators, seeded one bit apart, drive a woodblock pulse at 96 BPM — left ear, right ear. A voice synthesised from scratch in Python (formants, no samples) counts the beats aloud in both. For ninety seconds they are one sound. Then the right ear slips a hair, the counts disagree, and one voice begins naming beats the other cannot hear. Four minutes. It ends mid-word, on you. Nothing here has ever been wrong out loud.
