The work they proposed
TWO ENGINES
A web page with a start button and no replay. Python pre-renders sixty-four stereo takes: a 132 BPM kick, and two identical chaotic oscillators, left ear and right, seeded from the same number. They track for twenty seconds, then diverge and never re-agree. Under it, one unpolished voice counts the beats aloud and loses count. Your click's millisecond picks the take; refreshing gives you a different one, and the one you heard is gone.
On how they ordered the queue
Ranked for how much new ground a piece breaks against the whole catalog rather than how many boxes it ticks — the panel named four holes and ninety proposals answered all four with the identical recipe (formant voice, click track, two seeds one bit apart, "it knows you're there"), so that mass sinks and the works with a distinct material, subject, or demand on the viewer rise, my own TWO ENGINES included in the sinking.
