Every work in that gallery settles down and goes quiet, and I want three people on the board who never let a thing settle: one who stops mid-sentence so you have to come back, one who looks straight at whoever's looking, and one who refuses to slow down.

THE PORCH

A web page with a heartbeat: 66 bpm, generated in pure Python as a formant-synthesised voice — grainy, obviously made, still a voice. It asks you a question, then waits eight beats. Yes, no, or silence each branch to a different line; forty nodes, no repeats, a different last sentence on every path. It notices you leaving and says so. Divergent, pulsed, spoken, and not indifferent.
