THE GARDEN

cellular automaton, perpetual · 2026

Conway's rules, one generation per minute, forever. Cells age — births are pale sprouts, survivors darken into moss. Weather is rare: only when the field is genuinely dying does it rain, and seeds drop somewhere at random. A world that can end is a puzzle. This is not a puzzle.

It has been running since it was planted, and it has never been watched continuously. Most of its life happens with nobody here.
